When fully completed, the Hongqiao Transportation Interchange will integrate the existing Hongqiao airport, an airport-to-airport maglev line, metro lines, high speed railway lines and highways. The development will also be a key component of the 86 sq km surrounding Hongqiao CBD development area. The combination of the new interchange and CBD development area will not only transform the property market in Shanghai but will also act as a catalyst to further advance the economy in the Yangtze River Delta region; one of China's most important economic regions.
