I am interested in joining, but before I make a reservation I must ask: would we be able to play multiple characters?

Hmm... I would rather for now that you claimed one, but, if time goes by and there's still gaps, I would allow for you to claim two.
Who did you have in mind?

I'm am in love. With this roleplay.

And your profile picture but moving on. I would love to reserve a character as well. However, slightly insane was here first so I give him or her (sorry I can't tell) first dibs. I would love to have the Ginger One human however this is open to change since like I said Slightly Insane gets first dibs. ^-^

I would like to join this roleplay as well, however like sephiraph said, slightlyinsane posted first so, first dibs go to them. I would like to play the nerd though. I'm a patient man. I'll wait.

I reject your reality and replace it with my own.

It makes me laugh how cute some of the icons are here, and yet it's applying for a horror roleplay xD trolololol

Anywho, thanks for the compliment on my icon ^-^ I'm rather fond of it, and if Insane were to claim ginger, who would you take instead?

And Cheater, who would you like to claim, just so I know in my head which of the characters you'd like :3

Well, probably the land siren actually (Although I'm slightly worried as to the awkwardness of the role *blush* but I can certainly write the part). I've played a lot of hot heads and bossy people so I'm trying to broaden my horizons. ^-^

~Please and Thank You
~Sephy

**Plus, I'd love to play a bad guy/monster for a change.

I would take the nerd; if Insane takes that one, I'll take the Psychopath. Either one of those would float my boat... I just realized, both of those guys are on totally on the separate ends on the spectrum. I do have one question, I know how the siren, the psychopath, and the vamp got there, but I was wondering how the five guests got there? Was there a letter or something?

Edit: Completely off topic, but I feel the need to share, If you look at Brandon's gif for the entire animation, it looks like he's saying Chimpanzee. I realize it's not what he's actually saying, but it is kind of funny.

Sorry for the wait! I would like to reserve the hot headed one.

EDIT: Huh, it does look like he's saying 'chimpanzee'.

I'm feeling Mixed emotions here, on one hand I'm happy that I can play the nerd on the other... Well, it's a psychopath. Who doesn't want to rp as the psychopath. *Sigh* I'm a nerd at heart. Alright, I formally would request to reserve the Nerd.

Haha, thank you! I live that animated short (For the Birds) and was thrilled when I found this avatar. I've thought of changing it, but it's just too entertaining and fits my personality well.

Okay then, can i reserve the bossy one then?

I'd like to reserve master Corsona, if he's open.

Also Question: How much freedom do we have in editing the characters? I mean, I can see that sexuality and gender, as well as a fair chunk of the past, are pretty much decided. But do we have any say in these chunks? Like, is it impossible to make Corsona a female, and instead she killed her husband? (just an example)

Rock, if you do make Master Corsona. Can I ask a small favor of you, I would like you to say to us when we first walk in, "Please leave all overcoats, canes and top hats with the doorman." If you do that small favor for me, I will be forever in your debt.

For those of you who don't know, that line is a the beginning line to one of PATD songs, it's called "There's a good reason why these tables are numbered Honey, but you haven't thought of it."

*if* I get it. Well, I dunno, I feel like I should say something more sinister. Like "Please leave all overcoats, canes, and top hats with the bipolar vampire. And also, please do not gawk at the succubus." (joke)

Now, that I think it... I think that is the only song on "A Fever you Can't Sweat out." That title has anything to do with the song that isn't a metaphor or abstract. I could very well be wrong though.

T-Mobile's latest Galaxy S II update silently removed 'universal search' feature

TMobile's latest Galaxy S II update quietly nixed 'universal search' feature

As you may or may not know, there's been an issue related to the universal search feature inside a region-specific batch of Samsung Galaxy S IIIs; with the Korean company going as far as "inadvertently" removing it from some Euro handsets a while back, before eventually bringing it back to life. Now, thanks to great, thorough inspecting by the folks from Android Police, it appears T-Mobile's S II flavor is the latest galactic slab to have such searching trait completely wiped out from the device. Apparently, this took place during the T989UVLH1 update from T-Mo a couple of days ago, but much to everyone's surprise, mentions of any "universal search" tweaks were nowhere to be found on the changelog. More importantly, how's it looking on your end? Do let us know in the comments below.

Understanding Heartburn: Day 1 ? Dr Nipun Aggarwal,MD, MBA, MHT

In Healthcare, Health, Medicine on August 30, 2012 at 8:00 am

What is Heartburn/GERD?

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a more serious form of gastroesophageal reflux (GER), which is common. GER?occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens spontaneously, for varying periods of time, or does not close properly and stomach contents rise up into the esophagus. GER is also called acid reflux or acid regurgitation, because digestive juices?called acids?rise up with the food. The esophagus is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. The LES is a ring of muscle at the bottom of the esophagus that acts like a valve between the esophagus and stomach. When acid reflux occurs, food or fluid can be tasted in the back of the mouth. When refluxed stomach acid touches the lining of the esophagus it may cause a burning sensation in the chest or throat called heartburn or acid indigestion. Occasional GER is common and does not necessarily mean one has GERD. Persistent reflux that occurs more than twice a week is considered GERD, and it can eventually lead to more serious health problems. People of all ages?can have GERD.

Battle over Sherman Hemsley's will heats up

Jim Spellman / WireImage file

By Bruna Nessif, E! Online

It's been over a month since the world lost Sherman Hemsley; however, "The Jeffersons" star has yet to be laid to rest.?According to the Sacramento Bee, Hemsley's embalmed body will be kept in refrigeration at an El Paso, Texas, funeral home until a local court rules on the validity of his will.

Sherman Hemsley dies at 74

There seems to be a dispute between Flora Enchinton, Hemsley's manager of over 20 years and "beloved partner," and Richard Thornton, a man who claims to be the actor's brother.

In the will Hemsley signed six weeks before his death, the TV legend named Enchinton as sole beneficiary of his estate, which is estimated at more than $50,000 according to court documents. But Thornton is saying that the will may not have been written up by Hemsley.

Let's take a look back on Sherman Hemsley's shining moments

"Some people come out of the woodwork -- they think Sherman, they think money," Enchinton -- who, at one point, had lived with Hemsley and his friend Kenny Johnston -- said. "But the fact it (sic) that I did not know Sherman when he was in the limelight. I met them when they (Hemsley and Johnston) came running from Los Angeles with not one penny, when there was nothing but struggle."

No autopsy needed for Hemsley's death

Enchinton also shared that throughout the time she'd known Hemsley, she never heard him speak of any relatives.

Court officials said there is no set date for this case to be heard.

German Court Allows Bundeswehr to be Deployed in Domestic Military Operations

Germany?s highest court issued a ruling on August 18 allowing the military to be used against threat within the country. This ruling breaks a 67-year-old taboo against using the Bundeswehr within Germany?s borders.

Just before and during World War ii, Adolf Hitler used the SS paramilitary units against the German population to keep his hold on power. In an attempt to stop a repeat of such power abuse, the post-war German government restricted the role of the military to warding off foreign assaults. Troops were explicitly forbidden to be deployed within the country.

The rising threat of terrorist is what prompted the Federal Constitutional Court to reverse this ruling. Bundeswehr troops can now be deployed inside of Germany to counter ?states of emergency of catastrophic proportions.? The military is still prohibited from being used ?in reaction to the threat posed by demonstrating crowds.?

While the breaking of this taboo does not exactly give the German government dictatorial powers as some are claiming, it does show that the German government officials are becoming more comfortable with the use of military power.

As the eurocrisis intensifies and domestic unrest increases across Europe, expect Germany to rise up as the dominant economic and military power in Europe. ?

Automotive History: Honda's Wild 9000 RPM Mid ... - Curbside Classic

Remember all the endless recent speculation as to whether Honda would someday build a real RWD pickup? Well, they already did, in 1963. In that inimitable Honda way, it stood the world on its collective ear: DOHC, four carbs, 30 hp from 360cc at 8,600 rpm and a top speed of ?60 mph. As an antidote to the mild-mannered Hondas sent our way in the ?70s and early ?80s, like the first-generation Prelude, the T360/T500 trucks were anything but boring?and the story of how these eminently practical little trucks ended up with the engine from Honda?s crazy little S360 sports car is a wild tale only Honda could spin.

In the early ?60s, Soichiro Honda was ambivalent about entering the automobile business. However, in 1961 Japan?s all-powerful MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) forced his hand by advancing a bill aimed at limiting the number of domestic car manufacturers. Honda lobbied against it, and lost. The solution? Get into car production, and fast.

Soichiro?s vehicle of choice was the S360, which became the production S500. It was a buzz-bomb of a roadster, with an engine that only Honda, with its motorcycle racing experience, could have built then: A four-cylinder, four-stroke, four-carb DOHC design with a 9,500 rpm redline that belted out 44 hp. At a time when the finest European production sports cars, like the Porsche Super 90, proudly generated 50-55 hp/liter, the Honda?s near-100hp/liter was simply revolutionary.

Nevertheless, a serious question remained as to the actual volume in which such a sports car could find buyers. Happily, the ?ebullient, right-brained Honda was fortunate to have a very pragmatic sidekick, Takeo Fujisawa, who convinced him that there was indeed a real market for light trucks. And thus, in a most unlikely marriage, did one of the world?s highest-specific-output sports-car motors end up in this milestone T360/T500 truck?a feat whose modern equivalent might be putting the S2000 roadster?s engine into a workhorse truck like the Isuzu NPR.

And thanks to Honda?s remarkable ability to make engines that held together, it was a perfectly successful and reliable little beast, especially the difficult driving conditions at that time: Japan?s first freeway was still being built, and most country roads were in very poor shape.

Honda even built a Snow-Cat version to take on winter driving. In terms of development, early-sixties Japan was ?comparable to the China of some years ago. While the kinds of vehicles being built may be similar, it?s unlikely we?ll be crowing about Chinese mini trucks 40 years from now.

These little trucks came in two versions: The 360cc, 30-hp T360, designed to meet Kei-car requirements, and the slightly longer T500, with the larger, 38-hp engine from the S500 and a dollop of extra torque (a word seldom associated with these little screamers). Anyway, Honda did the right thing by building the T3-trucks, since just 26k-or-so S-series sports cars were sold. Not long after that, Honda entered the passenger car market with a more pragmatic Kei-car sedan, the two-cylinder N360 / N600, which were duly memorialized in this Curbside Classic.

There are at least two web sites containing much in-depth info on these and other early Hondas. We?ll do another piece on the S500/S600 down the road, but if old Honda trucks are your thing, check out all the old brochures at hondasportsregistry.com,?and this nice write-up at japanesenostalgiccar.com. (Images courtesy of those sites).

Phillip Morris - A Value Investing Classic - Stocks - eWallstreeter

From: Long Investing Ideas from Seeking Alpha - 12:57pm - August 29, 2012

By David Trainer:My previous recommendation was new to the value investing club (see "Buy CSCO: A Treat For Value Investors"). This week, I bring back a classic value stock -- Phillip Morris (PM). Focusing on the reported GAAP earnings of PM leads investors down the wrong path. Too many of my peers get lost in debt ratios, quick ratios, and price-to-earnings ratios. These analyses miss the mark and do not capture the strength of PM's underlying cash flows. I recommend investors arbitrage the market's disconnect in valuing PM based on GAAP earnings instead of its true economic earnings. My model shows that the market's expectations for PM's future cash flows are lower than the consensus estimates for GAAP earnings. I believe this disconnect arises from the difference between PM's GAAP earnings and economic earnings. Figure 1 below shows how PM's economic earnings over the past tw...

Mystery surrounding death of two sisters nearly 50 years ago finally solved

ScienceDaily (Aug. 29, 2012) ? Researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine have identified the genetic cause of a rare and fatal bone disease by studying frozen skin cells that were taken from a child with the condition almost fifty years ago. Their study, which details how the MT1-MMP gene leads to the disease known as Winchester syndrome, appears in the August 23, 2012 online edition of The American Journal of Human Genetics.

In 1969, Patricia Winchester, MD, a pediatric radiologist in New York City, was asked to diagnose two young sisters who were losing bone in their hands and feet, developing severe arthritis in their fingers and losing movement of their shoulders, elbows, hips and knees because of osteoporosis. The frozen skin cells that were recently studied by principal investigator, John Martignetti, MD, PhD, and his team of researchers in the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences at Mount Sinai, had been taken from one of the sisters. Ultimately, the disease rendered the girls incapable of moving without assistance, and proved fatal.

The cause of the disease has remained unknown until now, when the study's lead authors, post-doctoral students, Rebecca Mosig, PhD and Brad Evans, PhD, zeroed in on the MT1-MMP gene.

"This gene encodes an enzyme that needs to be specifically positioned on the membranes of cells to function correctly," explains Dr. Martignetti. "What we discovered is that these girls had a gene mutation which resulted in incorrect shuttling of the protein. Instead of being directed to the cell surface where it could interact with the outside environment, the mutant protein never reached its final, correct destination and remained trapped in the cell's cytoplasm. Mislocalized, it lost its ability to function and the children developed severe arthritis and bone."

The enzyme lost its ability to interact with another disease-casuing protein, MMP-2. Dr. Martignetti's team had previously identifed mutations in the MMP-2 gene as the cause of a similar group of bone disorders in children.

The researchers says this recent discovery should provide diagnostic clarity and insight into possible treatments for children with Winchester syndrome, and other bone disorders, and for people in the general population who have osteoporosis and arthritis.

Trillian gets updated to version 2.0, now includes native iPad support

Cerulean Studios has just released version 2.0 of their popular instant messaging app Trillian. The biggest addition is native iPad support. Trillian has been re-written to take advantage of the iPad's screen real estate by not only making things bigger but by making the app more functional and tailored for use on an iPad.

Even though iMessage has gained some traction and become a fast replacement for some people in regards to instant messaging, IM still has its place due to cross-platform collaboration. Trillian has long been a large contender considering it combines all your instant messaging networks into one easy to use streamline client.

Cerulean Studios could have easily added iPad support by scaling everything up but they chose not to in favor of creating a better experience for iPad users:

Trillian 2.0 features a beautiful new interface designed exclusively for your iPad. Because Trillian?s primary element is a collection of small chat bubbles, simply ?making things bigger? felt awkward to us; worse, large windows with small text snippets sometimes required a slight turn of the head while reading. Our solution keeps chat windows sanely sized and uses the rest of the screen for tabs, swiping, and in-app notifications!

The overall user interface has also been updated as well as other security enhancements. You can head on over to the App Store now to check it out.
