GWH News and Notes: August 25 Ohio Valley Wrestling TV Report

Show opens with 3-time Emmy winner Gilbert Corsey in the ring. Dean Hill is also on commentary.

Gilbert plugs the Nightmare Rumble on 9/1 with the winner getting an OVW Championship shot in October. He announces for tonight a "preview rumble"with ten contestants and that winner gets to be the last person in the Nightmare Rumble. Also announced for 9/1 is OVW Tag Team Champions Best Team Ever (Jessie Godderz & Rudy Switchblade) defending agianst 2012 Nightmare Cup winners James "Moose" Thomas and Michael Hayes. This brings out the Wildcards (Raul Lamotta and Shiloh Jonze) who complain about being overlooked and not getting a rematch for the tag belts despite Jonze beating Godderz in a singles match last week. Here comes BTE to the ring! Godderz makes excuses for the loss then says he's better than either Wildcard and doesn't need to prove anything. Switchblade seconds this notion then calls them the "Mildcards". Godderz says they should be involved in the Nightmare Rumble but they aren't whining about it since they have a tag title defense against a couple of even bigger losers than the Wildcards! This brings out Thomas and Hayes! Thomas rebukes the loser label then the 3 teams go at it! Out come OUR OVW Director of Operations Trailer Park Trash with OUR OVW Janitor Josette Bynum in tow. TPT berates the Wildcards then ejects them from the building! TPT then makes a tag title match (see? If BTE loses they can be in the Nightmare Rumble).

Match 1: OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Jessie Godderz & Rudy Switchblade vs Michael Hayes & James "Moose" Thomas

Back from break, Godderz ends up the wrong corner getting worked over. BTE eventually isolates Hayes and end up pulling his leg off.Hayes flips Switchblade foward on a single leg crab try, gets free and makes the hot tag to Thomas, who is on fire for a bit as BTE misses a few belt shots. Switchblade lowblows Moose and schoolboys him for the pin.

Fan Advocate Terry Bodie has a sitdown with OUR OVW Champion Johnny Spade, who is defending his title on 9/1 against Jamin Olivencia. Bodie question Spade about naysayers, to which Spade replies that people know he's the best and Olivencia will have to prove it to beat him.

In the back with the Mobile Homers (Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver) as Revolver says he is in the "preview rumble". They then wonder where their rocket fuel (moonshine) is. Brittany Devore pops up with an empty Mason jar and appears to be slightly inebriated, Some guy in a sombrero and serape comes in with a Spanish accent and talks to them briefly before turning to notice Heidi Lovelace coming in the door. The camera then pans to OUR OVW Womens Champion Taeler Hendrix in a Hooter girl outfit sitting with Dylan Bostic, who is trying out an electric guitar. OUR OVW TV Champion "Diamond Steel" Ryan Howe pops in to compliment Bostic's guitar and say "Hello, beautiful" to Hendrix then notes that both he and Bostic are in the"preview rumble". Hendrix seems happy with the attention from Howe! Maybe she can be one of his "Rough Cuts"!

Match 2: Crimson vs Arik Christopher

Hill & Corsey ponder Crimson's agenda since his debut last week. Pretty much a heapin' helpin' of squash. Crimson wins with the red sky! .

Fan Advocate Terry Bodie is backstage with Crimson, who is not in the preview rumble. Crimson says he doesn't need to be in this and it doesn't matter whether he's first or last since his thing is destroying lives!

Trailer Park Trash and Josette are in the back as TPT goes over her checklist of chores. TPT then makes Josette rub his stinky feet.

Match 3: OUR OVW Womens Champion Taeler Hendrix vs Heidi Lovelace

Both ladies colorfully dressed tonight for this non-title match. Lovelace comes out to some old Joan Jett (or it could be her old band the Runaways). Dean & Corsey discuss Hendrix winning the TNA Gut Check and a change in her attitude. They notice Hendrix fakes getting hit which sets Heidi off. They scuffle on the mat a bit then the ref stops the match. Heidi chases Taeler to the back.

Fan Advocate Terry Bodie has a sitdown with Jamin Olivencia, who notes Spade's time as OUR OVW Champion is running out but hopes they can still be friends after he becomes the champ.

Match 4: Preview Rumble

Two wrestlers start for 2 minutes, then a new guy comes in every 2 minutes.

Alex Silva and Jason Wayne start. Dean & Corsey note that Silva stayed neutral during the whole J-W-O period whle Wayne sided with now-OUR OVW Janitor Josette Bynum. Joe Coleman is next and Silva gets a double dose of Bolin Services 2.0 before Brandon Espinoza (with Chris) is next followed by Ryan Howe, who lariats Coleman out. Chris Silvio is next but non-entrant Cliff Compton runs out and rams him into the ringpost, leaving him laid out on the floor. Silvio struggles to make it into the ring as Dylan Bostic is next, and he immediately dumps Silvio. Howe goes after Bostic. Adam Revolver is next as the six left pair off and brawl. Crimson wanders out to watch as Tony Gunn comes out, leaves Ralphie on the desk and hits the ring. The final entrant is Rob Terry! Terry clubs on all! Terry dumps Revolver, Howe dumps out Bostic, then the other 5 go after Terry but Terry hulks up and chokeslams Espinoza out. Silva eliminates Terry with the Silva Surfer, aided by Crimson pulling down the top rope! This made Crimson happy! Wayne eliminates Howe and Gunn simultaneously, leaving only he and Silva. Wayne goes for a running boot but Silva ducks and Wayne eliminates himself. So Silva will be the last man in the Nightmare Rumble on 9/1 with the winner getting an OVW Championship shot in October

Terry throws a tantrum in the back. Crimson watches and says Silva caused him to be eliminated. Terry hits the ring but Silva gets out of the way. Terry then held off by refs as they show ends.

Thoughts: For the second straight week Kenny Bolin is absent which I think kind of takes the edge off the commentary. Thought Best Team Ever was in a slump there for a while but they seems to have gotten things on track again. Liked the Fan Advocate segments, they were short and to the point. Jessie Belle was absent this week but glad they kept the "wandering eyes" story going with Hendrix, Bostic, and Howe. TPT shouldn't push his luck with Josette. Interesting to see where they are headed with Crimson and Terry, and perhaps Mohammed Ali Vaez getting back into the picture somehow.
