Today is International Mother Language Day.
By Natalia Bordilovskaya: Writer, poet, teacher, scientist, one of founders of the national literature Yakub Kolas studied, loved his mother language.
(Zynaida Komarovskaya, Director of the Yakub Kolas Literary Memorial Museum)?
(Alexander Lukashenets, Director of the Institute of Language and Literature named after Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala of the NAS of Belarus, Chairperson of the International and Belarusian Committees of Slavists)
Yakub Kolas was always afraid Belarusians would forget their mother language.
(Zynaida Komarovskaya, Director of the Yakub Kolas Literary Memorial Museum)?
Yakub Kolas' last lifetime word in support of the mother language was his letter to the Central Committee Party. The letter stated specific proposals on use of the mother language in Belarus. But he never received an answer.
On the International Mother Language Day today the Yakub Kolas Literary Memorial Museum has organized a traditional event "Reading Kolas Together". Known writers, actors, artists and even state figures read today the work of the classic "The New Land".
