There is nothing Yosselin Villatoro loves more than putting the Just Dance Kids 2 Wii game into the console and dancing to her favorite song, ?I am a Gummy Bear.??

The Wyandot Early Childhood School first-grader?s smile widens as she starts singing along, swaying to the music, laughing with her 5-year-old brother, Freddy.

?I love Gummy Bears, they?re my favorite candy,? the 6-year-old tells visitors at the home she shares with her brother and grandparents, Tammy and Keith Randall.

?I like sour candy,?? she says pointing to the out-of-reach stash left over from Halloween.

These days the petite, soft-spoken girl tires quicker than she did three months ago. And she?s had to find dance moves that can be done using only her right leg.

Just before Christmas, the Liberty Township girl was diagnosed with osteocarsonoma, an aggressive bone cancer that started in the femur of her left leg and has spread to her lungs.

Chemotherapy treatments ? she will need 26 over nine months ? leave her tired and her immune system weakened.

She has already had one surgery that has left her left leg fragile, requiring her to use a walker. Another is scheduled for March 9, when doctors will remove 8 inches of her femur, replacing it with a metal rod.

?We don?t like it, but that?s the way it is,?? Keith Randall says. ?The cancer is just in the femur, not her hip bone, and that?s good news.?

At least two surgeries have to be scheduled to remove more than 80 tumors that have invaded her lungs.

?We?re hoping for the best,?? Tammy Randall says. ?It?s happened so fast, we?re still trying to comprehend it all. It was news you just don?t want to hear.?

Tammy says Yosselin misses riding her bike, is prone to falls and can?t dance like she once did.

Before the Dec. 22 diagnosis, the Randalls had begun remodeling and repairing their home. Walls were separating from the floor, due to water coming into the crawl space cause by drainage issues.

After Tammy quit her job to care for Yosselin, money became tight. The family struggled to pay medical bills and keep their cars running.

Work on the house came to a halt ? that is, until Tammy got a call from Kristan Dooley, the mother of one of Yosselin?s classmates and a middle school group life pastor at Vineyard Community Church in Springdale.

A group from the church including Dooley?s husband, Dave, the church?s elementary pastor, and her father, Mike Gilmore paid a visit while Yosselin was in the hospital. They converted the living room into a bedroom for Yosselin and Tammy, since Yosselin could no longer climb the stairs to her bedroom.

Her new room has a purple-and-green theme and is modeled after the room of Dooleys? youngest daughter. New windows were donated by Home Depot.

Sitting in a place of honor is an American Girl doll dressed as a jockey given to Yosselin by Ella, Dooley?s daughter, who sat at Yosselin?s table at school.

?It?s overwhelming how much support and help they?ve been to us,? Keith Randall says.

The team has since brought in a licensed contractor to evaluate what can be done ? the flooring is partially finished with exposed floor board ? to make the house more airtight, handicap accessible and easier for Yosselin to maneuver.

Estimates put the cost for materials at $13,000 for the four-phase project. Team members will do as much work themselves as they can. They are hoping contractors will step forward to assist the team.

?We want the family to be able to focus on taking care of Yosselin,?? Dooley said.

The Randalls are also getting help from the Lakota Wyandot ommunity through the efforts of Marilyn O?Keefe, Yosselin?s teacher and a member of Vineyard. Every week O?Keefe, brings Yosselin her schoolwork and cards from her classmates.

School families have signed up to bring meals to the family three days a week through March. A classmate?s mom coordinated the making of a quilt they gave Yosselin Valentine?s Day.

?My kids have been showering her with letters and cards, the outreach has been wonderful. You put it out there and you reach out to people and you realize how good the community is.?

Like most people, I judge a food establishment?s worthiness on the menu displayed outside. And the dessert offering is where I judge most harshly. I?ll walk on past places that are only offering the usual, run-of-the-mill, uninspired desserts and so, when I spied the so-so menu advertised outside Kitchen on South Anne Street, I was prepared to keep walking. But it was the White Chocolate and Peanut Butter Square that made me stop and reconsider. It?s been on my mind ever since.

Today, I found myself back at Kitchen to discover what delights this ?4 dessert had in store for me. First off, the outdoor eating/smoking area is so cute. I?m loving these establishments that not only provide toasty overhead heaters but woolly blankets too. As the interior of Kitchen is quite cosy (read: tiny), and it was during the lunchtime rush, I opted to sit outside on the white-washed benches with their houndstooth cushions. The white paper table mats are ideal for scribbling so if you?re feeling creative while waiting on your order, grab some of the complimentary crayons and go nuts. My server is just about the most cheerful person I have ever met. She is super friendly and applauds my choice of the White Chocolate and Peanut Butter Square. Along with a cappuccino, my little treat sets me back ?7.25.

T-Mobile USA to make data network work with iPhone

NEW YORK (AP) ? T-Mobile USA on Thursday said it will revamp its wireless data network this year, with the side effect of making it compatible with iPhones and some other smartphones sold by competing carriers.

T-Mobile is the smallest of the four nationwide carriers and the only one that doesn't sell the iPhone. But the reorganization of its wireless spectrum means that iPhone 4S users could migrate over from Sprint Nextel Corp. and Verizon Wireless when their contracts expire.

Owners of AT&T Inc. iPhones could move over too, if they figure out how to "unlock" their phones from AT&T's network.

AT&T does "unlock" other brands of smartphones on request, and they, too, will work on T-Mobile's revamped network.

Currently, T-Mobile undercuts the other carriers with a contract-free plan with unlimited calling and texting for $70 per month. It includes 5 gigabytes of data, after which speeds are throttled.

On a contract-based plan with Verizon, unlimited calling, texting and 5 gigabytes of data would cost $140 per month.

AT&T iPhones that are moved over to the current T-Mobile network can make phone calls and get low-speed data service, but don't get high-speed data.

The retooling of the wireless network is part of T-Mobile's plan, announced Thursday, to start "LTE" wireless data service next year. That technology provides for even higher download speeds, but relatively few phones can use it. Verizon and AT&T already have LTE networks, and Sprint is set to fire one up this year.

Another effect of the revamp is that many international visitors will be able to use their smartphones on T-Mobile's network. So far, the nationwide U.S. network that's been compatible with most phones from overseas has been AT&T's.

Epson EX7210 Multimedia Projector

The Epson EX7210 Multimedia Projector ($649 direct) is a portable, easy to set up and use business projector with a good feature set and range of ports. Its data image quality isn?t perfect, but should be fine for typical business presentations made to small groups.

The EX7210?s light source, based on the 3LCD technology developed by Epson, is rated at 2,800 lumens. The projector provides WXGA (1,280 by 800 pixel) native resolution, at a 16:10 aspect ratio. It has a similar feature set to the Editors? Choice NEC NP-M260W ($850 street, 4 stars), a WXGA projector rated at 2,600 lumens. In addition to the zoom and focus wheels, the EX7210 also has a slider behind the lens to manually provide horizontal keystone correction.

The black EX7210 measures 3.1 by 11.6 by 9.0 inches (HWD), including feet, and weighs 5.1 pounds. It?s easily transportable in its included soft carrying case.

The EX7210?s ports include VGA-in; HDMI-in; 3 RCA plugs for composite video and audio; S-video; a type B USB port for connecting with a PC (USB Plug ?n Play provides easy connectivity with both Macs and Windows PCs); and a type A port that fits a USB thumb drive.

Still and Video Image Testing

From a distance of about 9 feet away, the EX7210 filled our test screen with an image about 65 inches on a diagonal. The image was bright in a darkened room, and held its own even with a considerable amount of ambient light. The projector should be fine for smallish conference rooms.

In my testing using the DisplayMate suite, the EX7210?s data image quality was adequate for business presentations in which exacting color isn?t required. Tinting was an issue; in many projectors, grays can look slightly greenish; in some test images with this model, the green tint was unusually pronounced. In our text testing, white-on-black text appeared slightly fuzzy, though readable, at the two smallest sizes, with traces of red and green tinted at the two smallest sizes, while the smallest size of black-on-white text was a bit fuzzy and showed a hint of red.

The EX7210?s video quality is good enough for showing short or mid-length clips, though I?d draw the line at movies. There was some loss of detail in bright areas in our test clips, and traces of posterization?abrupt changes in color where they should be gradual. In some action scenes, and scenes where the camera was quickly panning, I saw motion artifacts in the form of a very mild hatching, though I doubt that many viewers likely to be distracted by it.

Other Issues

The projector?s single 2-watt built-in speaker provides decent sound quality and volume, loud enough to be heard in a smaller conference room.

The Epson EX7210 Multimedia Projector is a capable WXGA projector, with a good range of connectivity ports (including HDMI-in and a port for a USB thumb drive that lets you present computer-free) and some nice features like USB Plug ?n Play and a slider for horizontal keystone correction.? Though data image quality is okay for most business presentations, the projector would not be ideal for situations in which exacting color and/or tack-sharp small text is needed.

The slightly heavier (though still portable) NEC NP-M260W ($850 street, 4 stars) and the featherweight Epson PowerLite 1775W, both Editors? Choice projectors, offer better data image quality, while the MP-M260W is bristling with connectivity choices. But you pay more for those models, and the EX7210 has some likeable features of its own.

Rolling the Dice on Gaming Stocks - Investment U

Last week, I spent a few days at a casino resort in California. While I expected the weekend to be busy, I was surprised at how crowded it was on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Every time I set foot into the casino, the place was humming with activity. On several trips to the poker room, tables were full and I had to wait to be seated.

Even at 4:30 AM, as I passed through on the way to Starbucks before catching my ride to the airport, the electronic sounds of slot machines in use filled the room.

The restaurants were always crowded.

Regardless of what you think of the economy, it?s hard to deny that casinos aren?t only surviving, but thriving.

In Las Vegas, gambling revenue was up 5.1% in 2011. Macau, where a lot of American casinos have investments, is even hotter, with revenue soaring 42% in 2011.

Bet With the House

I used to love to gamble. Blackjack was my game. But then I learned how to play poker and the appeal of trying to beat the house vanished. Now, if I lose my money at the poker tables, I can only blame myself (or the superior play of an opponent). The odds aren?t stacked against me from the moment I sit down.

Imagine if you could bet with the house instead of playing against it. Well, you can by investing in the right gaming stocks.

The best way to bet with the house, in my opinion, is Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS). Las Vegas Sands owns the Venetian and Palazzo in Las Vegas and five properties in Macau, the gambling capital of Asia.

Las Vegas Sands has been coming up in my proprietary S.T.A.R.S. system, ? a stock-picking model that utilizes supercomputing power. The technology behind S.T.A.R.S. was designed by the same programmer who created programs for some of the largest and most successful quantitative hedge funds in the world.

S.T.A.R.S. identified Las Vegas Sands in early January due to its 17.6% annual growth rate in book value and quarterly earnings, which have doubled in the past year. I recommended the stock in The Oxford Systems Trader, my research service that uses S.T.A.R.S., at $48.36. The stock is up 17% since then, although the June calls I recommended at the same time are up 80%. That compares with a 5.5% rise in the S&P 500 during the same period.

Even though we?re already up on the stock, Las Vegas Sands remains my favorite casino stock going forward.

Bet Against the House

Usually, you don?t want to bet against the house. But in one case, a company?s director is. Wynn Resorts (Nasdaq: WYNN) is having a dust-up with a member of its board of directors.

Kazuo Okada, the Director and the company?s largest shareholder, is upset that the company made a $135-million donation to the University of Macau and has asked management for access to the books. Management has refused. Okada is suing the company in order to be allowed to examine the company?s books. And now the SEC is involved, launching an ?informal inquiry? into the donation.

So you have someone on the board of directors who has to sue the company in order to be to allowed to look at the company?s books, and the SEC gets involved. In the financial community, that?s what?s known as ?not good.?

This weekend, Wynn pulled a stunning move, accusing Okada of improper payments to gambling regulators and forcibly buying back his 20% stake in the company at a 30% discount to the market, and asked Mr. Okada to resign.

Okada has vowed to fight the forcible sale of his stock.

It raises a lot of questions. Why would the company not permit one of its own board members to see internal documents? A director is responsible to shareholders. Management has a fiduciary duty to its shareholders. They?re supposed to be on the same team.

Granted, managements and boards don?t always see eye to eye, but the goal should always be enhancing shareholder value.

Something smells rotten here and I think it?s only a matter of time before the whole story gets out. And when it does, I suspect shares of Wynn will be worth a lot less than they are now.

Casino stocks, which have performed nicely since the beginning of the year, should continue to do well as the economy improves. But even with gamblers at the tables, Wynn is likely going to crap out.

Europe Plans Exascale Funding Above U.S. Levels

Let's go through your examples:

Ok, the ESA has got nothing on NASA (no surprise since its total funding it sadly only about 1/5th what NASA gets). But the only reason NASA was able to get to the moon so quickly back in the day was that it 'stole' German rocket technology and scientists after the war. Everything NASA's done since then has been based on developments on the rocket technology it got from Germany after the war.

Nonsense, the LHC is a machine that is literally *the edge* of what current science and technology can do, which is why it's taken so long to get it working. You can't compare that to a collider that was cancelled 20 years ago due to being unrealisticly expensive to build.

Airbus pioneered the use technologies like fly-by-wire and composite fuselages long before Boeing dared. They've also introduced new aircraft that change the economics on certain routes such as the A380. Not to mention that the first commercial jetliner in production was the deHavilland Comet from the UK, although it proved unsafe and was eventually overtaken by the American 707.

The NIF and ITER are two different approaches to achieving viable nuclear fusion, Europe has commited the majority of its funding to the ITER approach but it'd be stupid not to have some smaller scale experiments which use the approach that NIF uses. Just as I'm sure the US has some experiments that try the ITER torus approach.

Oh and BTW the National Ignition Facility was 5 years behind schedule and almost 4 times more expensive than originally budgeted when completed.

There are areas of scient and technology where the US is ahead and some where Europe is, but it's always annoying in those discussions to have some jingoistic American spread around the myth that all technological development comes from the US and Europe (and everyone else) are just copiers. It's a myth not supported by history, including not by recent history.

EchoStar Communications Corporation, the parent firm of DISH Network was formed
back in 1980 by CEO and Chairman Charles W. Ergen initially to distribute Tv

On January 4, 2006 EchoStar announced which DISH Network had surpassed the 12
million figure for American families which had DISH Network Maintenance. In February
of 2007 DISH Network surpassed the 13 thousand figure. All month, DISH Network
broadcasts a show entitled ?Charlie Chat?, that attributes information about upcoming hardware,
programming events, and brand-new channels. The show is co-hosted by Charlie Ergen, CEO
of DISH Network and Jim DeFranco, Executive Vice-President because they field both e-mail and
phoned in questions. Recently DISH Network has gotten into the high-speed Internet
market and rumors persist which DISH Network and DIRECTV can yet merge to ensure that they
could gain a bigger share of the broadband market.

Should Obesity Be Considered A Disease?

Here in the States, I have been noticing commercials for the CDC (Center for Disease Control) that have been trying to rally support to recognize obesity as a disease. I have even noticed that Wikipedia defines obesity as medical condition and yet the first two causes of obesity that they list are excessive food energy intake and lack of physical activity.

I just don't get it. I understand that obesity does not have to do only with people being fat as it is possible for genetics to play a role in obesity and that even Type 2 Diabetes can make weight management a difficult thing to manage. But I cannot imagine that there are that man obese people in the States who can rightfully claim that their obesity comes from genetics (although I hear the excuse all of the time) and if obesity is recognized as a disease then that means that people who are simply to fat and lazy to do anything about their increasing weight will be able to receive free or reduced medical help, medications, and treatment that will be coming straight out of the taxpayer's pocket. They could even be looking at unemployment if their obesity stops them from working.

I'm not here to make fun of overweight people but I am 100% positive that the majority of obese people in the States are obese because they do nothing but eat and they do not exercise. It just worries me, is all.

?Sup bloggers, Jonah H. here. First off, congrats to Makena for correctly answering my trivia question. There are no blocks in Cinderella Castle. It?s made out of fiberglass and steel!

For my blog today, I?m going to begin a series of reviews for The Kingdom Keepers books. These are awesome books for kids who love Disney.

Five kids, Four park, One mission?

Author Ridley Pearson has written a series of books about teens who have a hologram adventure in the Disney Parks. Disney?s villains are plotting to take over the parks. Maleficent, from Sleeping Beauty, is a leader of the villains, known as the Overtakers. Disney?s Imagineers devise a plan to combat the Overtakers with holograms known as DHI?s ? Disney Host Interactive / Daylight Hologram Imaging. Five teens were selected to model as the DHI?s. To park Guests, these holograms serve as guides. But an old Imagineer named Wayne, who used to work with Walt, knows much more.

The first book is Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark. At night the five teens ?cross over? into the Magic Kingdom as their holograms and see that the villains are plotting to take over the park. Wayne tells them they have to solve the riddle of the Stonecutters Quill fable to defeat the Overtakers. They have many adventurous nights in the park and have to escape from the villains on different rides, while they are searching for clues. The five teens are led by Finn, and have two other girls, Amanda and Jez, they meet at school, as friends. But these girls don?t seem to be totally trustworthy at all times. When they are not in the parks, they meet online in the Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK) website. In the end, the five DHI?s and the two girls help Wayne capture Maleficent. It?s a fun book to read and I couldn?t put it down!

In Kingdom Keepers II: Disney at Dawn, one of the DHI?s friends Jess is missing (she used to be known as Jez but that was when she was under Maleficent?s spell, which has now been broken). The five Kingdom Keepers find out that there is a second DHI server cloned by the Overtakers. The server is used to manipulate the DHI?s in the parks. The Overtakers want their own server, to control the DHI?s and make their own army of DHI?s. They soon realize that Jess is not the only one that is being held captive in Disney?s Animal Kingdom (DAK) ? CHERNABOG!! The Kingdom Keepers must find Jess and destroy the second server, and Chernabog along with it.

The Kingdom Keepers learn something new about Jess and her sister Amanda. They are fairlies; fairly human, and fairly fairie. They have magical powers that help the Kingdom Keepers, such as levitate things and move things without even touching them. Wayne isn?t around to help them and has gone into hiding, so the five Kingdom Keepers must work without him. All the action takes place at DAK. The teens are able to destroy the second server, but Chernabog escapes along with Maleficent. The Kingdom Keepers will live to fight them another day

Here?s my new trivia question: In the movie Fantasia, how was Chernabog defeated??

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ? John Glenn plans to mark the 50th anniversary of his historic spaceflight with a series of events Monday at Ohio State University, including a celebratory dinner and a chat with the International Space Station.

The astronaut and senator from Ohio became the first American to orbit the Earth on Feb. 20, 1962, circling it three times in five hours and helping to lead the nation into space. The trip helped the United States catch up to the Soviet Union's accomplishments, and Glenn said he thinks it was a turning point for the national psyche.

"It's amazing to me to look back 50 years and think that it's been 50 years," Glenn told The Associated Press last month.

He and NASA administrator Charles Bolden were expected to speak with the space station on Monday to kick off a NASA forum about the agency's future and its role in advancing fields such as science, technology and the economy. Glenn and Annie, his wife of almost seven decades, will cap the day by participating in a student-led question-and-answer session during an evening gala featuring a keynote speech by former astronaut Mark Kelly, the commander of the space shuttle Endeavour's final mission.

Glenn was among the top military test pilots presented in 1959 as the Mercury Seven. The only other surviving Mercury astronaut is Scott Carpenter, who called out the memorable line "Godspeed John Glenn" moments before the rocket ignited for Glenn's spaceflight.

The trip is among the accomplishments that made Glenn, as Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee put it, one of the country's "greatest treasures."

"John Glenn is, quite simply, an extraordinary American patriot," Gee said in a statement ahead of the event. "He is a man of boundless courage, limitless optimism and unswerving honor. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to celebrate his tremendous achievements and his important leadership at Ohio State."

In 1998, when he was 77, Glenn became the oldest person to fly in space.

Now 90, Glenn is the namesake of a NASA research center in Cleveland and a public affairs school at Ohio State. He's given the university more than a thousand boxloads of materials and artifacts to display, including the hand controller with which he flew the Friendship 7 capsule on that historic orbit 50 years ago.
